11 let výročí od první konference ICC International Court of Arbitration v České republice od jeho založení v roce 1923 – vzpomínka organizátora
Letos uplyne 11 let od první konference ICC International Court of Arbitration v České republice a 10 let od konference druhé spojené s konferencí Young ICCA.
Vše začalo v roce 2009, kdy se JUDr. Jan Havlíček, Ph.D. jako doktorand a zaměstnanec PrF MU vypravil na konferenci ICC International Court of Arbitration v Paříži. Na této konferenci bylo s kompetentními osobami z ICC International Court of Arbitration předjednána možnost uspořádat konferenci v Brně na Právnické fakultě MU. Souhlasili. Přípravy trvaly 2 roky, během kterých se jednalo o všech podmínkách, včetně partnerství, místu konání, atd. Konference byla nakonec uspořádána jako součást The World Jurist Association 24th Biennial Congress in Prague v roce 2011. Dva roky práce a skvělé spolupráce s týmem ICC International Court of Arbitration, zejména Galina Zukova, a týmem organizujícím The World Jurist Association Congress přinesla své ovoce. Konference se uskutečnila za podpory Právnické fakulty MU, národními výbory ICC Rusko, Polsko, Česko a centrály ICC v Paříži.
Dobré věci se mají opakovat. V roce 2012 JUDr. Jan Havlíček, Ph.D. ve spolupráci s ICC International Court of Arbitration v Praze v tehdejším sídle národního výboru ICC uspořádal další konferenci.
V roce 2013 se JUDr. Jan Havlíček, Ph.D. měl možnost podílet na první ICC rozhodčím případu jako konzultant. V roce 2015 pak přišla největší výzva, třešnička na dortu mezinárodního práva. JUDr. Jan Havlíček, Ph.D. převzal zastoupení klienta v investičním sporu o 5 miliard, následováno arbitráží u ICSID. V současné době jako první čistě česká advokátní kancelář zastupuje klienta v ICSID Annulment Proceeding. Advokátní kancelář Havlíček zastupuje klienty také v ICC arbitrážích, JUDr. Jan Havlíček, Ph.D. působil jako expert v arbitráži u SCC. Sny se neplní sami. Právníci je dnes plní tvrdou prací, která čas od času přinese úspěch, protože je, v tomto světě kvalifikovaných a sofistikovaných arbitrů, zkušených a logicky uvažujících klientů, skutečně ceněna.

11th anniversary of the First ICC International Court of Arbitration Conference in the Czech Republic since its establishment in 1923 – a look back by the conference organiser
This year marks 11 years since the first ICC International Court of Arbitration conference in the Czech Republic and 10 years since the second conference, associated with the Young ICCA.
It all started in 2009 when I went to my first ICC International Court of Arbitration conference in Paris. That was the year when I started to realise my university dreams of translating the theoretical knowledge I had acquired into the practice of international arbitration. At this conference I met people from the ICC International Court of Arbitration and offered them the chance to organise a conference in Brno at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University. They accepted my offer. It was the first conference of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in the Czech Republic since the Court was founded in 1923. The conference took two years to prepare, during which time I worked at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University, among other things. I finally organised the conference as part of The World Jurist Association 24th Biennial Congress in Prague in 2011. Two years’ work and excellent cooperation with the ICC International Court of Arbitration team, in particular Galina Zukova, and the team organising The World Jurist Association Congress, bore fruit. The conference was staged with the support of and through my cooperation with the Faculty of Law of MU, the ICC National Committees of Russia, Poland and Czech Republic, and the Paris headquarters.
Good things are worth doing again. In 2012, in cooperation with the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Prague at the then headquarters of the ICC National Committee I organised another conference.
In 2013 I had the opportunity to participate in the first ICC arbitration case as a consultant. Then the year 2015 brought the biggest challenge, the icing on the cake of international law. I took over the representation of a client in a CZK 5 billion investment dispute, followed by arbitration at the ICSID. At this point in time, we are the first purely Czech law firm to represent a client in an ICSID Annulment Proceeding. We also represent clients in ICC arbitrations, and I have acted as an expert in an arbitration before the SCC. Dreams do not come true on their own. We make them come true through hard work, which from time to time brings success because, in this world of skilled and sophisticated arbitrators, experienced and rational clients, hard work is truly appreciated.
